Levere Electric's standard Level 2 installation starts at $899 + HST for qualifying homes in London and the surrounding area. The right question is not only "What does an installation cost?" It is "What is included for my particular home?" A clear quote connects the price to your equipment, the cable route and the electrical capacity you already have.
What the starting package is designed for
Our standard package is intended for a panel on the same level as the garage, within about 20 feet of the proposed charging location. It includes a load calculation, a 240V 40 to 50A circuit, a NEMA 14-50 receptacle or hardwired connection, all materials, mounting and testing, and the ESA permit and inspection.
The written quote identifies whether the charger itself is supplied, what connection is proposed and what happens if site conditions differ from the initial photos. Starting prices are useful for planning; they are not a promise that every home fits the same package.
Three details that change the quote
- The cable route: the practical installation route is often longer than the straight-line distance between your panel and parking space. Finished basements and changes between levels affect access. Runs of 30 to 60 feet usually fall into our extended install, typically $1,200 to $1,600 + HST.
- The installation location: a garage wall, an exterior parking spot or a detached building each present different work. Tell us where the car normally parks and where you want the cable to reach.
- Available capacity: your home's existing electrical demand needs to be assessed. Additional equipment or a service upgrade changes the scope and the price.
Take a photo of the closed panel and its label, the proposed charger location and the areas along the likely route. There is no need to remove electrical covers. A few useful photos make the first conversation far more specific than a picture of the charger alone.
Ask about capacity before assuming an upgrade
A panel upgrade should follow an assessment, not precede it. Depending on the home and the charger, a suitable charging rate or an approved EV energy management system (EVEMS) may be worth comparing with a 100A to 200A service upgrade, which typically runs $2,400 to $3,500 + HST. The appropriate option has to be established for the actual installation.
Tell us your vehicle model, whether you already own a charger and how you use the vehicle. That keeps the discussion about a charging setup that fits your routine rather than the largest number on a product box.
Compare the same scope
When comparing quotes, check charger supply, cable route, installation materials, wall repairs, permit arrangements and any additional equipment. A lower total is hard to judge when the work included is different.
The Electrical Safety Authority requires a notification (permit) for EV charger work, and homeowners who hire out electrical work must use a Licensed Electrical Contractor. Keep the ESA certificate of acceptance with your home records. Read ESA's homeowner EV charging guidance.
